ST. NICK BROUGHT NEW CLOTHES
Hi there!
First of all I would like to thank all the people reading and appreciating this blog for what it is: a playground to test my design and development skills. Throughout the years its design has been modified a lot of times, constantly improving from this to the actual design you’re watching right now.
Well, this is a special day for me because I managed to launch another version of it - Version 8. The plan was to launch it after New Year’s Eve to respect the tradition, but I was so enthusiastic about it that I couldn’t resist keeping it for myself until then.
More surprises are coming
Worry not my faithful readers! Santa knows you’ve been good, and as a sign of appreciation he sent me some presents for you. Just stay tuned on Christmas Day and who knows what surprises lay out there for you :)
Until then you can expect some here and there modifications on the actual blog, and be free to send feedback.

Design superb: bold, aerisit, curat, culori cu nuante echilibrate, atentie la detalii.
Deja simt o aroma de FWA prin analytics ;)
Un singur aspect m-a deranjat deocamdata, butonul de “ucis” pagina curenta, aflat in stanga sus, o tzara incomod. Il asteptam ca majoritatea muritorilor undeva in dreapta, sus.
In rest e o placere sa-i descoperi jucariile si MooTools i se potriveste de minune, smoothie.
Sa-l “porti” sanatos !

Wow, this is awesome ! I like it even better than the previous one ! And the navigation it’s pretty intuitive, I don’t know why some of you think it is complicated…

I think it’s too complicated too. Don’t get me wrong the design is awsome, what I really don’t like is the blog section where you have to click on each post to bring it up and the scrolling it’s a little bit misleading. (you want to scroll the window itself..)
Another issue with the blog section is that you emphasize the date of the blog posts and not the title. Personally, I think you just killed your blog section…

I like the new design, however I find it a bit tedious to use. With accessibility in mind, I find it even more difficult to use.
For instance, the links at the bottom should be pulled up (that’s intereactive, I know). You could have achieved the same thing with a click and scroll. You should try to access those links by reapeatedly pressing “Tab”. Check out the effect for yourself.
When using such a “mask” for the background it’s both nice and annoying. I hate screen flickering when I scroll the page. Try to use a transparent PNG. It’s easier for the eye.
Also, check out the links of your friends’ pages.

I found a small bug in your menu interactivity. Try to move the mouse cursor just below the menu icons (between the bottom menu icon and top of the pop-up ‘balloon’) the icon starts bouncing…
Now maybe this could be used as an effect, you know like the Mac Dock. When the application starts the icon bounces…

Ti-am dat si reply pe adresa de mail pe care ai furnizat-o.
Toti cei care ma cunosc stiu ca nu sunt asa, si ca acest tagline este pus la misto.
La urma urmei fiecare face ce vrea in casa lui, nu ?
Becali in nebunia lui se considera Razboinicul Luminii. Il iau toti la misto, dar nu poate nimeni sa-i ia acest drept.

Ce zice Markus mai sus e o idee foarte tare. Mă gândeam să fac o platformă din asta acum ceva vreme, pentru orice designer (mainly .ro) interesat.

Scopul acestui blog nu este de a furniza informatii importante pentru diferite categorii de oameni sau de a oferi un serviciu. Asta este clar. El exista, asa cum ai spus si tu, pentru tine - pentru a-ti testa abilitatile si cunostintele si pentru a tine un jurnal personal. De aceea nu voi critica design-ul sau codul ci voi aprecia atentia la detalii, originalitatea si personalitatea pe care le reflecta.
Daca, totusi, as alege sa critic redesign-ul, as spune:
Arata bine, dpdv al designului este relativ bine gandit, dar accesibilitatea lasa de dorit, cat si usurinta navigarii. Spun “relativ bine” pentru ca design-ul in primul rand nu trebuie sa arate bine, ci sa faciliteze transmiterea unor informatii sau comunicarea dintre autor si audienta. Si este un pic cam greu de realizat acest lucru cu un layout atat de nonconformist.
Imi place codul la nebunie. Este curat, semantic, si bine gandit.
Apreciez “you are here” dar simplul fapt ca mi-ai “rapit” butonul de back este inacceptabil, pentru mine personal. Tabindex-ul este si el o problema.
Pe scurt: bravo Alex! :)

Nu ti-am rapit butonul de back. Pur si simplu inca n-am gasit cum dracu ii suprascriu functiile din JS :D
De ce ma rog lasa de dorit ca accesibilitate ? Eu cred ca sunteti voi obisnuiti cu layout-ul standard de blog si de-aia vi se pare ciudat.
Tabindex-ul functioneaza perfect. Ai incercat sa te duci in footer cu TAB ?
In concluzie, design-ul este mai mult facut pentru show-off, cine citeste oricum e abonat la RSS.
Datele pe care le am confirma aceste spuse ;)

Mai adaug si o observatie referitoare la un bug pe care tocmai l-am remarcat in Firefox 3 pe Mac: dupa ce postez un comentariu, panel-ul din footer (pull me up) se ridica si ramane blocat in state-ul acela si nu mai afiseaza nicio informatie, nu mai are nici imaginea transparenta de fundal, ci doar background-colorul portocaliu.
Inca o problema o mai consitutie imposibilitatea de a accesa pagina principala daca am javascript-ul dezactivat. Doua cuvinte pentru tine: unobtrusive [removed]P
Sper ca nu te supara criticile, pentru ca nu asta era intentia mea :)

This is really excellent work… I like that you’re pushing the boundaries of what’s expected for an interface… I think most of us are still stuck with old ways of navigating (myself included!).
