Hi there, My Name is Alex Buga, I'm from Bucharest Romania, and I am a design-addict - in the good way. I work as a Creative Director at MB Dragan - (True) Interactive Agency.
But you already knew that, didn’t you?
And I’m not talking about me not winning because if it wasn’t for Mihai Dragan I wouldn’t even subscribe my blog. I’m talking about a lot of good websites that didn’t even make it through the nominees. Too bad. Real wasted money.
At least, Andrei Serdeliuc got a small bit of the money back. He drank 3 or 4 double scotches :D so he knew what he was paying for.
Maybe next time… at Cannes festival ) Like Bogdan Nitu from Webstyler remarcably stated
we’ll have a chance.
Good night my dear readers. Good night.
PS: He is now a disciple :D. We gave him the “Racheta Alba” (White rocket) t-shirt
Yo.
In the admin panel, and in my rss feed I see the correct date. Maybe it’s a problem with your rss reader ?
Thanks for letting me know man.
So, Webstyler won again? I bet on GreenPixel, but ... Please tell us more about the awards http://www.alexbuga.com/site/images/smileys/smile.gif
Tomorow morning. Now I’m going to bed.
Being a webdesign-superstar :D is a tough job http://www.alexbuga.com/site/images/smileys/raspberry.gif
What should I tell you more ?
There have been sites that really deserved to win like Lyceum, Panoblogus, Nuntapeneve… etc.
BUT… there were some very good sites that were not even mentioned as nominees.
Oh… and the show itself was a total crap. I’ve never been to Bamboo club before because of the “VIP’s” that go there very often, and I have to admit I was more than dissapointed. It’s a total KITSCH !!!
The hosts of the show…. the two guys from Antena 1 from the morning show were pathetic. They made fun of each winner who tried to thank somebody for their efforts. They made me sick.
This was the last time I actually gave money to participate at such a lousy “festival”.
Leave it like this. Next time we should ignore this event and leave them share prizes. One year half of them should organize the event and the other half gets the prizes. Next year the switch places, so it is a win-win deal.
One of my clients participated and it was not nominated because “ the website was not explicit enough” . How can you explain this because I can not.
BTW: I clicked the “expand” button bellow the comments and collapsed the list. http://www.alexbuga.com/site/images/smileys/smile.gif
Internetics has some good parts, some of it might that it’s a reason to get together with other people in the business, and also to meet new ones. I think the festival is not design oriented but mostly content oriented. Everytime I participated with a website that I thought it was cool designed, I wasn’t even nominated. I remember that in an edition, a member of the jury didn’t gave me points because he didn’t liked english language websites in a romanian competition, and this sucked.
Alex, I love the design of your blog and you’re in my feedreader. Really, and I told you in person. But let me give you a hint, that I discovered the hard way. The Internetics is not about cool design, it’s about content. That’s what I’ve learned, maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what I’ve noticed.
BTW, thanks for your kind comments on other blogs… http://www.alexbuga.com/site/images/smileys/wink.gif
If anyone is curious, I posted a few panos from Bamboo club, not very great panos, because I made them hand held and who’s been there knows what were the light conditions… and that the whisky was free… http://www.alexbuga.com/site/images/smileys/wink.gif
P.S. @Stefan: Hi man! http://www.alexbuga.com/site/images/smileys/wink.gif Hope you’re remembering me, long time no see… :D
I know it’s not design oriented. At least not the Blogs section, but I state that it sucks because of the rest of things:
Organisation, Hosts, etc.
I’m glad you won and not a blog that didn’t deserved it. I’m glad National Geographic and Mami.ro won because they’re a good proof that good sites win no matter what.
I’m not pissed off because I knew what was going to happen, but I didn’t told anything to my team because they were so enthusiast… like I was the last year when I worked at Firedive. They need competition. I’ve had it. Every year it’s the same.
Salut zdeto, normal ca imi amintesc de tine http://www.alexbuga.com/site/images/smileys/smile.gif
About the part Internetics it is mostly about content then design. The client (mentioned by in the comment above) has a very good website, a lot of content (more then 400 articles), user friendly interface, urls, good structure, contextual search results etc etc. And yet I can not comprehend the rules they apply when they evaluate the website. Besides, only 4 jury members visited the website during the evaluation period. One with 10 hits, 2 of 10 seconds, then less then 3 seconds for the rest of the pages. One jury member with 4 hits, all of 2 seconds. The other two jury members visited only two pages. How can you evaluate an website when you check only two pages. What about the rest of the jury?
@seraphim:
Green Pixel didn’t win because we have declined our participation starting 2004. However, 2 of our clients took home 4 awards, 3 for Sanoma Hearst and 1 for Next Step Development (more details you can find on my blog http://womanchild85.blogspot.com/2007/11/5-premii-la-internetics-pentru-clientii.html)
I imagine that there are still voices / eyebrows raising since one of us (Roxana Stoianovici) was a member of the jury. But in the sections where one of our clients competed, Roxana refrained from expressing her vote so that no objections might be raised.
Also, Marius Deak gave an interview on AdPlayers.ro, explaining this situation.
Hi Diana,
You don’t need to explain anything. We know that Greenpixel did not participate, and it’s a shame they made the mistake to include GP in the “Webagency of the year” charts.
I’ve read Marius’s interview. He did a good thing. It shows the whole world that he doesn’t care about awards, but he cares about good quality and h appy customers.
Congratulations again for the wonderful job behind Mami & National Geographic
I’m visiting here for the first time, but I’ll be back, looks like you’ve got some interesting stuff.
