So if you’re like me and write a lot of emails in a non-english language, as Romanian, you are probably pissed of by iPhone’s auto correction.
First of all you need disk access to the iPhone through SSH or ... another method :D
When you have managed to enter disk mode, you go to “/System/Library/TextInput/” and do the following:
After all this stuff when you type on the iPhone’s keyboard, you have a key with a globe icon next to the spacebar. When you click that key you switch between English and the blank dictionary called Portuguese.
Is pretty simple and effective. Enjoy it !
This is just great!!!
Thanks so much, Brother!!!
Not so usefull for me. I’m writing a lot of English and German so I just added them both as an international keyboard and I switch every time I write in a different language. In addition, I have to say the iPhone’s correction is pretty badass, it make me write almost as fast as on PC
Chiar se merita un IPhone?
o zi minunata iti doresc
In alta ordine de idei, super cool, your site!
Mulțumesc mult, foarte tare sfatul.
ummmmm..... or you could just say Home Screen>Settings>General>Auto Correct: Off…
@Cooper Shrieve: I don’t have a Auto Correct Off option on my iPhone. Best I could do was to use both the English and French keyboards simultaneously, which seems to confuse the auto correct into silence…
I finally did it on my iPhone. It works, but there are two glitches:
- typing double-space no longer inserts a dot.
- It doesn’t learn the words I type.

Improper letter spacing is a visual assault. Stand against bad type!

Osăm! Mersi de sfat, mă duc să-mi bulesc iPhon-ul.
